Everyone noticed that Coach Calhoun was denied a spot in basketball's Hall
of Fame on the day he won his second championship. This title should change
all that. "With two national titles in five years, Calhoun has become the
pre-eminent coach in his craft," Jay Mariotti writes in the Chicago
Sun-Times. "He has left Mike Krzyzewski stalled at the stoplight, recalling
how he outstrategized Coach K and beat Duke in the 1999 title game, then
overcame a large deficit Saturday night to trump him again. As one of
Krzyzewski's admirers, even I must acknowledge that only one of his three
national titles has come in the last dozen years. Duke was then. UConn is
now."
