Silicon Valley executives steal glances across the Pacific, drooling over the mostly untapped market that is China. And it's true that the country with more than a billion people is finally coming around to the allure of capitalism.

"The opportunity in China is more real than it's ever been," says Brewer Stone, managing director of East Peak Advisors LLC, a boutique investment bank in Corte Madera, who spent much of the 1990s in China. "A lot of serious players are now approaching it in a serious way."
